Look Mom, No Cavity

By: Dane Masters

There is a reason to celebrate! Your annual visit to the dentist is almost at hand. You have mixed emotions about this, relief and fear. Possibly, your toothache is driving you up the wall and your dentist could be your most likely savior. This is going to be one achy subject!
A date with the dentist is one I would rather not keep. Go there with a swelling decayed tooth and it's like hitting the jackpot, of pain, that is. Can you imagine anything worse than an overly sensitive mouth that has to be poked and inspected with the possibility of being drilled? No one wants to ever deal with a dentist's drill.
You do not have to, but you have to have a disciplined regimen to keep your teeth always clean and healthy.
Sometimes you feel a slight pain within your teeth. When that happens, I have always thought there is a cavity in there for sure as what else could cause that pain? Actually, toothache can be caused by several things. I remember I had to visit my dentist because of a persistent toothache. He discovered a part of the filling is gone, but no cavity. That was quite a relief.
Preventative Dental Care.
Roots that have been uncovered could also cause toothache. Sometimes very brisk brushing could cause a break in the base of the gum line, thus uncovering the roots. When liquid is introduced to the bare roots, this will surely cause pain or sensitivity. The only way to avoid this excruciating problem is by following a strict routine concerning dental care. Properly brushing your teeth after every meal is of course the most ideal. But if this is not always possible, brush at least twice a day, in the morning when you wake up and before you retire at night. To top it off fluoride rinsing and flossing is highly recommended to really keep your teeth and gums healthy which will in turn keep your dentist out of your mind for a long, long time.
When In Doubt, Contact Your Friendly Dentist.
At the first sign of a toothache, your only option is to go to your dentist. If the pain continues to bother you, only your dentist can find out the root of the cause and prescribe the proper medication or procedure. A date with your dentist might not be something to look forward to, but suffering a toothache is not a good option either.
